Non-Profit Involvement
I enjoy sharing my love for Christ and helping make a difference in people’s lives. Below are a few nonprofit organizations and missions I support.
Northwest Haiti Christian Mission
Northwest Haiti Christian Mission is an Independent Christian Church organization dedicated to establishing and partnering with indigenous churches to help bring people in Northwest Haiti out of spiritual, physical and social poverty to demonstrate God’s love for all. *** All proceeds from The Gift Is You will be donated to Northwest Haiti Christian Mission and Laban Ministries. The mission serves thousands through a diverse collection of programs including; primary schools, feeding projects, orphanages, medical clinics, church planting, a Bible college, and agricultural development. I support the Birthing Center as well as the Mission in general.
Anita and I continue to support financially the Northwest Haiti Christian Mission. This mission continues to have a very special place in my heart. I was fortunate to spend one week there for three years prior to my go-kart racing accident. I still support my God daughter Sue who is now 14 years old.

Tutwiler Clinic
Many years ago, Sister Anne Brooks was an intern at the hospital where I worked. After completing her internship, she devoted her medical career to helping underprivileged individuals in the Mississippi Delta at the Tutwiler Clinic. The Clinic’s goal is to enable patients to become knowledgeable about their health or illness, and to participate in their own care to their fullest potential. I am honored to be a small part of her calling.
I continue to support the very valuable clinic in the Mississippi Delta. Dr. Sister Anne Brooks is a friend of mine and I want to support her clinic as much as I can.

Celebrate Kids is dedicated to helping parents, educators and children of all ages meet their core needs of security, identity, belonging, purpose and competence in healthy ways. Founder Kathy Koch has a very special calling to help families and especially children. We continue to be a part of this organization.

With practical resources – like their 1-800 Family Help line (1-800-A-FAMILY), counseling and websites – Focus is committed to providing trustworthy, biblical guidance and support. This organization continues to have a very special place in my heart. It stands firm in helping families with their special challenges with God based support.

Laban Ministries International
*** All proceeds from The Gift Is You will be donated toNorthwest Haiti Christian Mission and Laban Ministries.
Laban Ministries International (LMI) is an evangelistic mission organization servicing the Democratic Republic of Congo. The ministry began in 1978 when Jim and Nancy Smith inherited the work from Jim’s mother, Marcella.
The church I attend supports this ministry. The Smiths are parents to Todd and Nicole Smith who were the lead singers with the gospel singing group Selah. This group had the hit record “Press On” which was so important to my recovery.

I serve the following organizations in a volunteer capacity:
Women and Children Health (CWCH)
My Center continues to be very active in our two main projects: Infant Safe Sleep and Yes Ma’am.
For Infant Safe Sleep our goal is to help save babies lives by providing “Safe Sleep Sacks” to parents whose babies are born at local hospitals. Our Center has provided over 5000 of these sacks during the last three years. We also provide families with educational material.
Our other project is Yes Ma’am. This project is designed to help save women’s lives from breast cancer by education and providing free mammograms to individuals who otherwise could not afford the procedure. Through Yes Ma’am approximately 400 free mammograms are provided each year to women of need.

Wyandotte Clinic for the Working Uninsured
This clinic acts as my Haiti in America. I volunteer at the clinic twice a month along with my OB/GYN residents providing free gynecological care to women in our area. It is a very rewarding experience. My former nurse, Teri, and former cancer surviving patient, Tammie, are always there helping me care of these patients. I gave up my private practice in 2010 to volunteer at this clinic.
