Hope is one of three infused virtues. The other two are faith and charity (sometimes called love). Hope, faith and charity are given, or poured into our souls, supernaturally by the Holy Spirit. Everybody gets them, though we all practice them to different degrees.
So faith, hope and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love. 1 Corinthians 13:13
