We all know adversity. Some synonyms for adversity include misfortune, disaster, distress, calamity and hardship.
Here are some thoughts for overcoming adversity from Essential Life Skills (http://goo.gl/j5wGN).
When we resolve to confront and overcome misfortune/disaster/distress/calamity/hardship, we become expert at dealing with it and consequently triumph over our day-to-day challenges.
- Experiencing the bad helps us appreciate the good.
- Always look for the learning opportunities in every situation.
- Will this experience make or break you? (Sorta comes under the heading “They can kill you, but they can’t eat you.)
- What’s the worst that can happen? When you’re prepared for the worst, it doesn’t seem as bad because you are equipped to handle it. Besides, the worst rarely happens.
- When you arm yourself with faith, courage and resilience, the impact of adversity doesn’t seem so bad.
- Adversity is part of life. Accepting adversity helps you overcome it.
Dr.Wolf, my husband was diagnosed with MS this past year at the age of 66 we thought this was a young person’s disease. We both have faith in God and know that he walks with us.
He has trouble walking and becomes tired easily. We are a team and with God we know we can face what ever comes next.

Dear Darlene, I am so sorry to hear about your husband’s illness. Life has so many uncertainties and at times it can be difficult to accept. But you are correct, if you turn to God He will give you all the grace you need to make it through life’s difficulties.
Thank you for sharing. I will be praying for you and your husband. Dr. Wolf
