I’ve been learning about humility lately. It’s not the easiest of lessons to learn, and the classroom is full of interesting experiences; however, I feel as though it is truly one of the most valuable things to understand. Our world seems to fuel success with pride. Those who are boastful and looking to profit themselves are often the ones placed on a pedestal, yet the higher we place ourselves, the farther and harder the fall. In actuality, humility is one of the greatest attributes of success.
Greed profits for only a short time, yet a humble attitude can accomplish greatness. God calls us to much more than a schedule revolving around self; he wants us to become servants, for through that willingness to be the least, he can do the greatest. A servant’s heart is the most beautiful kind, and something I strive to attain each and every day. I have to remind myself constantly that my life is not my own, each moment is a gift and should be treasured and used to make a difference in this world.
Proverbs 16:3 calls us to, “Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.”
That is the answer to true success, giving up one’s own agenda for one that is far exceeding our wildest dreams. Be willing to stay humble and to relinquish control..it will bring freedom, blessings and a love for life like no other.
